I came to volunteer at HTCNE in 1985 when my first son was born. Throughout the years, I have worked in each program but the medical teams abroad program has always been where my heart is. I feel honored to work with the greatest group of people- both medical team personnel, office staff, and Foreign hosts. It is so rewarding to send these teams out and see the end-results in how many children we were able to help versus bringing in one child at a time. The gratification is to see how our team changed their life! This organization has changed my life and I feel privileged to have such a rewarding job!

With a Masters Degree in Education, I spent seven years teaching – three years in Walden, NY and four years in Spangdahlem, Germany. While living four years in Zaragoza, Spain, I taught English as a Second Language to Spanish military officers and their families. I also taught English as a Second Language for the Connecticut Literacy Volunteers of America – teaching students from Colombia, Yemen, & France. Since 2007, I have enjoyed working in Healing the Children’s International Inbound and Medical Trips Abroad programs.
Katerina Coutsouradis
Program Assistant
I first volunteered with HTCNE when I was in college back in 2006. I traveled to Bangladesh to assist with a burn team and a cleft repair team. That trip changed my life. From 2006 to 2008, I worked for HTCNE on the Domestic Kids Program. In 2007, I traveled with a HTCNE dental team to Madagascar. After graduating from college with degrees in Social Science & Early Childhood Education, I went on to both volunteer and work for a variety of non-profit organizations, and traveled to over thirty countries to offer my time and skills to those in need. After working for years in the non-profit sector, I decided to become a full time mom and stay home with my two young children. In 2022, I began volunteering in the HTCNE office while my children were at school, and in 2023 I joined the staff as a part time employee. I am thrilled to be back with an organization that holds a special place in my heart.
